Jeffrey Epstein built a network of powerful connections around the world. He was linked to people from many professions and political backgrounds many of whom stayed connected to him even after his crimes were known.
His circle included government officials, billionaires, royals, tech founders, scientists, celebrities, and businessmen. Epstein also had ties to many institutions, either as a member, a donor, or both.
Documents
In 2015, two of Jeffrey Epstein’s printed phone books often called the “black books” listed over 1,700 contacts.
The lists included big names from media, politics, business, and entertainment. Some examples are media executives Rupert Murdoch and Michael Bloomberg, politicians Andrew Cuomo and John Kerry, entrepreneurs Richard Branson and David Koch, and actors Alec Baldwin and Michael Jackson.
The books also included international leaders like former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Events
In 2006, Jeffrey Epstein hosted a private dinner on his island, Little Saint James, for 20 world-famous physicists, including Lawrence Krauss, Gerard ‘t Hooft, David Gross, Frank Wilczek, Stephen Hawking, Kip Thorne, Lisa Randall, Maria Spiropulu, Barry Barish, and Alan Guth, as well as author Betsy Devine.
In 2011, he held a similar event, called the “Mindshift Conference,” again on his island. This gathering included scientists Murray Gell-Mann, Leonard Mlodinow, Gerald Sussman, and Frances Arnold, along with actor and cryptocurrency advocate Brock Pierce.
Before his 2008 conviction, Epstein often hosted gatherings at his homes. Journalist Michael Wolff met Epstein around 2001 and advised him to avoid talking too much with reporters. Despite this, Epstein appeared in major media profiles, including New York Magazine in 2002 and Vanity Fair in 2003. Wolff later said Epstein used TED conferences as a way to meet scientists, intellectuals, and tech leaders outside the usual social circles.
Even after Epstein went to jail, some of his associates publicly distanced themselves. However, publicist Peggy Siegal still included him in private events, trusting his claim that he had changed. Epstein also continued to fund intellectual gatherings organized by literary agent John Brockman, which let him meet academics, scientists, and technology leaders years after his conviction.

Epstein’s Inner Circle and Connections
The recently released documents from the U.S. Department of Justice reveal Jeffrey Epstein’s network of associates, friends, and powerful contacts around the world.
Key figures in his inner circle included Jean-Luc Brunel, Lesley Groff, Darren Indyke, Baron Richard Kahn, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Harry Beller. Many other aides and employees were redacted from the files.
Several women worked as recruiters for Epstein. They were reportedly told to target young, financially struggling women and promise help with education or careers. Some of the well-known recruiters included Sarah Kellen, Nadia Marcinkova, Lesley Groff, Adriana Ross, Haley Robson, and Rina Oh. Some were listed as “unindicted co-conspirators” in the controversial 2007 plea deal. Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted in 2021 of child sex trafficking and related crimes.
Close associates and social connections included politicians, royals, investors, and celebrities:
- Ghislaine Maxwell : Epstein’s long-time partner and co-conspirator, romantically linked to him in the 1990s, stayed close until his death in 2019.
- Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (Duke of York) : His links to Epstein led to the loss of royal titles and duties.
- Bill Clinton : Epstein visited the White House several times and lent his private jet for Clinton’s trips in the early 2000s.
- Donald Trump: Socialized with Epstein in New York and Palm Beach; later claimed he cut ties after Giuffre, a teen victim, worked at Mar-a-Lago.
- Elon Musk : Communicated with Epstein about private meetings and projects; no evidence shows Musk visited Epstein’s island.
- Ehud Barak : Former Israeli Prime Minister had repeated contact with Epstein, stayed at his properties, and invested in projects partly funded by Epstein.
- George Church, Ben Goertzel, Stephen Kosslyn, Lawrence Krauss, Murray Gell-Mann, Marvin Minsky : Scientists who received funding or grants from Epstein and socialized with him at conferences or on his private island.
- Woody Allen, Eva Andersson-Dubin, John Casablancas, Mortimer Zuckerman: Celebrities and business figures who had social, professional, or financial ties with Epstein.
- Peter Mandelson, Mette-Marit (Crown Princess of Norway), Martin Nowak, Ariane de Rothschild, Al Seckel, Mark Middleton: Political and financial figures who had personal or business dealings with Epstein.
Some victims, like Virginia Giuffre, later accused Epstein and Maxwell of trafficking them to powerful men, including politicians like George J. Mitchell. Leaked flight logs, emails, and documents confirm Epstein maintained connections even after his 2008 conviction.
Epstein’s network shows how deeply he intertwined with influential people in politics, science, finance, and entertainment, often using money, access, and promises of mentorship to gain trust and influence.
