Newly Released Epstein Files Spark Arrests and High-Profile Resignations

The Justice Department’s newest release of files about Jeffrey Epstein is shaking up politics, business, schools, and entertainment. The documents have already led to arrests, resignations, and fresh investigations worldwide.

The files reveal a wide network of people connected to Epstein, from Britain’s former Prince Andrew to top legal and business figures like Thomas Pritzker. These documents show just how far his influence reached and how lasting the effects still are.

Here’s a look at some of the biggest developments and important arrests so far.

Arrests and criminal charges

Former Prince Andrew

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He was later “released under investigation,” meaning no charges have been filed. British police did not say if the allegation is connected to a specific role, though he worked as the United Kingdom’s trade envoy from 2001 to 2011.

In a rare public statement, King Charles III said the royal family will give “full and wholehearted support and co-operation” and stressed that “the law must take its course.”

Former Norwegian Prime Minister Thorbjørn Jagland

Thorbjørn Jagland, former Prime Minister of Norway, has been charged with “aggravated corruption” after a police investigation into his alleged ties to Epstein. According to CNN, investigators looked into whether he received gifts, travel, or loans linked to his official position.

Government and Diplomatic Fallout

Peter Mandelson – Former UK Ambassador to the U.S.

Peter Mandelson resigned from the Labour Party, telling the BBC he didn’t want to “cause further embarrassment” as scrutiny grew over his past connections to Jeffrey Epstein. Mandelson had previously been removed from his post as UK ambassador to the U.S. due to these links.

Justice Department records show Epstein made three payments of $25,000 to Mandelson in the early 2000s. In 2009, Epstein reportedly sent nearly $12,000 to Mandelson’s husband, Reinaldo Avila da Silva, for an osteopathy course. Mandelson has denied receiving the money and questioned the authenticity of the documents. UK authorities are reportedly investigating whether Mandelson may have shared confidential government information during his tenure.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem Former DP World Chairman and CEO

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, who led DP World the Dubai-owned logistics company operating Jebel Ali, the Middle East’s largest port was removed from his positions following revelations in the Justice Department files. His name appears more than 4,700 times in the latest documents linked to Epstein. A spokesperson confirmed his extensive mentions but provided no further details.

The new files include emails between Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem and Jeffrey Epstein. In one 2010 message, bin Sulayem wrote, “Where are you? Are you ok, I loved the torture video.” Epstein referred to him as “one of my most trusted friends in every sense of the word.”

Norwegian Diplomats Terje Rød-Larsen and Mona Juul

Norwegian officials are investigating Terje Rød-Larsen and his wife Mona Juul over links to Epstein. Juul, a former ambassador to the UN, Jordan, and Iraq, resigned in February 2026 after Norway’s financial crimes unit opened a corruption investigation tied to her work at the Foreign Ministry and past Epstein contacts.

Rød-Larsen is being investigated for possible complicity; he stepped down in 2020 as president of the International Peace Institute after scrutiny over Epstein-linked donations and a repaid loan. Both deny wrongdoing and are cooperating. The Justice Department files reveal Epstein’s 2019 will set aside $10 million for their two children and named Rød-Larsen executor in 2017—a role he was later removed from. The family said they only learned about the inheritance after it was reported publicly.

Swedish UNHCR Chief Joanna Rubinstein

Joanna Rubinstein resigned as chair of Sweden’s UNHCR after court documents renewed attention to her ties with Epstein. The records show Rubinstein visited Epstein’s private island, Little Saint James, in 2012—just a few years after his 2008 conviction for sex crimes. She said she regrets the association but denies any knowledge of or involvement in Epstein’s crimes.

Corporate and Financial Leaders

Goldman Sachs Lawyer Kathy Ruemmler

Kathy Ruemmler is leaving Goldman Sachs after Justice Department documents showed she accepted gifts, including wine and a handbag, from Epstein. The records also show she advised him on media inquiries and referred to him as “Uncle Jeffrey.” Her resignation is expected in June.

Paul, Weiss Chairman Brad Karp
Brad Karp stepped down after scrutiny of his communications with Epstein. Emails show Epstein asked Karp to recommend that billionaire Leon Black retain a firm to monitor a former mistress and asked about her visa status. Karp replied, “Both good ideas; will work on this.” He has said he regrets contact with Epstein but denies wrongdoing.

Hyatt Hotels Chairman Thomas Pritzker
Thomas Pritzker, cousin of Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, will retire as executive chairman after acknowledging “terrible judgment” in keeping contact with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Justice Department documents include friendly emails with Epstein and Maxwell even after Epstein’s 2008 conviction. In a 2018 exchange, Epstein asked Pritzker to help his girlfriend plan a trip to Southeast Asia. Pritzker agreed; the woman responded, “Going to try to find a new girlfriend for Jeffrey.” Pritzker replied with, “May the Force be with you” and a smiley face.

Academic and Entertainment Figures

Former Harvard President and U.S. Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers
Lawrence Summers, on leave from Harvard, faced scrutiny over past ties to Epstein. House Oversight Committee emails show Epstein called himself Summers’ “wing man.” Summers said he is “deeply ashamed” and called it a “major error of judgment” but denies knowing about Epstein’s crimes.

CEO Casey Wasserman
Casey Wasserman plans to sell his sports marketing firm after appearing in new Epstein documents. High-profile clients, including soccer star Abby Wambach and singer Chappell Roan, cut ties. Files show flirtatious emails with Maxwell in 2003 and a 2002 flight on Epstein’s private jet with former President Bill Clinton. Wasserman said he regrets the correspondence, emphasizes it was “long before her horrific crimes came to light,” and denies any personal or business relationship with Epstein.
